- Resumen: La Arquitectura es, a un tiempo, lenguaje del arte y de la razón. Encuentro entre la ciencia y el artificio. Se ha enriquecido históricamente del nutriente que germina en los LÍMITES. Habita en el CRUCE de culturas e identidades diferentes; en la CONFLUENCIA de la naturaleza y el paisaje, con el sentido del orden humano; en los LINDES imprecisos de la realidad y los sueños; en el UMBRAL que interroga lo interno y lo externo; en la constante investigación de la forma como respuesta a la función, sin renunciar al ideal de la belleza. La Arquitectura se encuentra hoy en la difícil ENCRUCIJADA que busca encarar los retos de una nueva modernidad tecnológica y multicultural, cuya comprensión y gestión se han vuelto extremadamente complejas. La desigualdad se ha revelado como una nueva pandemia en el arranque del siglo XXI. La reciente crisis socioeconómica ha mostrado su silueta más sombría y los corrosivos regueros de pobreza y exclusión, desplazando hasta extremos verdaderamente insospechados las FRONTERAS de lo socialmente permisible y lo humanamente deseable. Es un problema que, hoy en día, está poniendo en grave riesgo los pilares esenciales de nuestra identidad ciudadana. ¿Puntualizar? ¿Adaptar? ¿Repensar? ¿Volver a empezar? El URBANISMO y la ARQUITECTURA siguen siendo unos vigorosos instrumentos con capacidad para cauterizar heridas y, desde su posición intelectual, contribuir a redefinir los equilibrios necesarios entre el bienestar individual y el colectivo, en la búsqueda inexcusable de la virtud del bien común. Deben colaborar a repensar y redefinir los nuevos caminos que permitan diseñar los espacios de convivencia que materialicen el anhelo colectivo de habitar en una sociedad y en unas ciudades más equilibradas y justas.
- Abstract: Architecture is, at the same time, the language of art and reason. Encounter between science and artifice. It has historically been enriched with the nutrient that germinates in the LIMITS. It inhabits in the CROSS of different cultures and identities; in the CONFLUENCE of nature and landscape, with the sense of human order; in the vague LINKS of reality and dreams; in the THRESHOLD that interrogates the internal and the external; in the constant investigation of the form as a response to the function, without renouncing the ideal of beauty. Architecture is today in the difficult ENCRUCIJADA that seeks to face the challenges of a new technological and multicultural modernity, whose understanding and management have become extremely complex. Inequality has been revealed as a new pandemic at the start of the 21st century. The recent socio-economic crisis has shown its darker silhouette and the corrosive rivulets of poverty and exclusion, pushing the BORDERS of the socially permissible and the humanly desirable to truly unsuspected extremes. It is a problem that, nowadays, is putting in serious risk the essential pillars of our civic identity. Punctuate? To adapt? Rethink? Start over? URBANISM and ARCHITECTURE continue to be vigorous instruments with the capacity to cauterize wounds and, from their intellectual position, contribute to redefining the necessary balance between individual and collective well-being, in the inexcusable pursuit of the virtue of the common good. They must collaborate to rethink and redefine the new paths that allow us to design spaces of coexistence that materialize the collective desire to inhabit a society and in more balanced and fair cities.
