  • Summary: Johannes Itten noted that releasing and deepening students’ expressive capacity is the teacher’s most difficult task. Regaining the joy of children from simply trying means avoiding the fear of failure. We present a catalogue of suggestions aimed at exploring ways to graphically express ideas and sensations apparently without any direct relation to concrete forms. By “immeasurable”, we mean both without restriction, as well as without any visual references that can be measured, by comparison, against. Many of these practices are linked to the artistic avant-gardes of the last century; more than a few are older; and some come from Eastern cultures.
  • Keywords: Immeasurable drawing, improvisation, stock inventory.
