  • Author(s): Atxu Amann Alcocer and Gonzalo Pardo Diaz.
  • Conference’s title: International Conference Commemorations of the 80th anniversary of IETcc.
  • Place (place): Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences, Madrid.
  • ISBN: 978-84-7292-381-2.
  • Summary: If throughout history, the space-time linked to food preparation has revealed the transformations of domesticity allowing to analyze the most radical changes related to the house and its inhabitants, during the twentieth century – and especially in the second half, as a result of technological and gender revolutions – cooking has been the showcase of the different ways of living, altering the meanings traditionally associated with this space and demanding a new prominence within the housing project. Today, cooking is a term under constant review, with no more physical definition than expired regulations, where unknown actions linked to new tenants as different as the consumption habits of a global world themselves are developed, crossed by sustainability, ecological awareness, crisis and concern for a healthy body based on responsible nutrition, which too often includes the BigKing menu of the nearest Burguer, by vice or by necessity. From the analysis of complexity, this communication studies this space-time-increased production, relationships, meals and affections of a mutant domesticity.
