  • Summary: Beyond the interest that today can provoke the Semperian theory of the technical and material origin of architecture, a path to its innovation is suggested that opposes abstract concept and idealism. In the face of abstract processes and the instrumental reason of technology as a way for architectural innovation, research on the most human dimension is proposed that incorporates data from life experience, perception of the senses, memory and Place. Technique or technology as demonstrated by positivism had great socializing possibilities to improve people’s living conditions but cannot be reduced to the exclusive extent of everything. It cannot be atslating itself with instrumental criteria above humans that constitute the anthropological basis of culture, a renewal of it. Anthropology today puts an important emphasis on the reference of the individual and proposes how to integrate in his analysis the subjectivity of those who observe as natives of his own culture, privileged informants, in a position to reflect on themselves. It is necessary to pay attention to the changes that affect the great categories through which beings think of their identity and relationships; categories such as time, memory and space. The most relevant aspect of a more anthropological architecture than aesthetics is the need for effective contact with humans.
  • Abstract: Beyond the interest that Semperian theory can today on the technical and material origin of architecture, a path is suggested for its innovation that opposes the abstract concept and idealism. Faced with the abstract processes and the instrumental reason of technology as a way for architectural innovation, we propose a research on the most human dimension that incorporates the data of the life experience, the perception of the senses, memory and place. Technique or technology, as positivism showed, had great socializing possibilities to improve people’s living conditions, but it can not be reduced to the exclusive measure of everything. One can not pretend with instrumental criteria above humans that constitute the anthropological bases of culture, a renewal of it. Anthropology today puts the important emphasis on the reference of the individual and raises how to integrate in his analysis the subjectivity of those who observe as natives of their own culture, privileged informants, in a position to reflect on themselves. It is necessary to pay attention to the changes that affect the great categories through which beings think about their identity and their relationships; categories such as time, memory and space. The most relevant aspect of an architecture that is more anthropological than aesthetic is the need for an effective contact with human beings.
