Angelique Trachana

Angelique Trachana is Dr. Architect by the Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAM) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). Commet European Scholarship in Germany (1991-92) working with Prof. Josef Paul Kleihues. Master in Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Heritage by UPM (1994). Since 1995 she has combined her professional activity with teaching in the university. She has taught at the Universities of Alcalá (UAH) (2000-2008,) Camilo José Cela (2007-2012) and UPM (1995 – present) where she has given various subjects and postgraduate courses. She is ascribed to the Department of Graphic Ideation at the ETSAM where teaches core and elective courses and develops Experimental Workshops and Educational Innovation Projects.

She is Member of the Research and Educational Innovation Group “Hypermedia”.

Coordinator of the Master in Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Heritage of the UPM (1995-2012), Director of the Specialization Course City and Environment (2004-2010) and coordinator of the Specialization Course Cultural Landscapes. She gave lectures, courses and seminars in various Spanish and European universities and institutions.

She held senior positions in institutions such as the Spanish Institute of Architecture of the UAH (1995-2001), the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) (1999-2008), the Institute for Architecture of COAM (2004-2008) and the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid (2000-2001) where she developed projects related to communication and dissemination of architectural and city culture as well as Continuing Education of Architects. She was the coordinator of the magazine Astragalo. Culture of the Architecture and the City (1995-2001), coordinator of The Culture Section of COAM(1999-2003), coordinator of Continuing Education Plan of COAM and Director of the Institute for Architecture(2004-2008); Director of the radio show ‘Architecture and City ‘ for Radio-Circle.

She has published several books and articles in scientific journals. Her research in recent years is directed towards innovations produced in education and professional practice of the architect because of new technologies of information and communication focusing on changes in perception and conception of the living space; the new anthropology of habitat and urban culture as consequence of ICT and the gender perspective in urban life and city design. In this field she is developing experimental workshops and projects regarding hybrid systems that connect the world of architecture and the city with the world of communication and new technologies.
